CONTINUING EDUCATION PRESENTATION (4:00-5:15 pm)
“Designing Performance Based Playground Safety Surfacing Specifications”
Presented by Adam Alex, SofSurfaces, Petrolia, Ontario
Sponsored by John LaRue, BigToys
ASTM 1292 – The U.S. Standard that governs the way that a playground surface must perform. Is “meeting the standard” enough to ensure the safety of children using the playground equipment? The answer is no. Recommendations on providing performance-based features in the product specifications rather than specification of specific product features were very informatively and engagingly presented to the group.
Certificates providing 1 continuing education unit were emailed to all participants, except for Betsy Poulin. Does anyone have an email address for Betsy Poulin? Please contact Shelley with any contact information so she may be added to distribution list.
